Situation: A pipe producer engaged Principia to develop long-range strategy for growing share and margins in water distribution pipe in North America
Approach: Principia built a database of over 100,000 water utilities in North America and a predictive model of water pipe demand. To assess the drivers of pipe demand and the key selection criteria, we interviewed over 300 value chain participants including pipe producers, engineers, municipalities, and associations. Finally, Principia recommended the best options for growth including potential partnerships to capitalize on each firms’ respective strengths.
Outcome: The client used Principia’s recommendations to build a business plan and present to senior management. The plan was implemented and revenue grew by $50 million over five-year period.
