Builders & Contractors: Quarter-Over-Quarter Price Increase Trend

In a prior post, Principia explored how supplier prices to lumberyards and traditional one-step dealers over time. Exploring the topic from the purview of builders and contractors, specifically focusing on exterior product categories, reveals a similar pattern.

Builders and contractors were asked, “How has the pricing (the price you pay your dealers or retailers) changed in the last 12 months?” Here are the results.

Over the course of the last three quarters, Q3 2024 through Q1 2025, builders and contractors consistently report an increase in pricing of about 5% compared to 12 months prior.
