Building Product Costs: How Pricing Trends Have Shifted Over Time
Last year, we shared insights from builders and contractors about the rising costs of building products. Now, after more than a year of consistent data collection, we’re able to offer a more detailed view of how these pricing trends have shifted over time.

In the third quarter of 2024, the average price increase for building materials gradually declined. However, toward the end of 2024, the trend reversed, and professionals once again reported their product costs were on the rise.
As of August 2025, reported price increases for building products have stabilized, coming in at 7.4%. This figure matches the 15-month average observed since we began tracking price increases in June of 2024. While the volatility seen in previous quarters seems to have eased, we’re closely monitoring external factors that could influence pricing in the months ahead.
