Principia is publishing an infographic series highlighting different macroeconomic indicators from 2020 relevant to the construction industry. Part 4 features existing home sales in 2020.

Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 are available on the blog.

Existing home demand surged in 2020, as homeowners searched to find new homes. Single family home sales were up 15% for December 2020 compared to December 2019. Existing home sales also reached the highest level since 2006, according to The National Association of Realtors. The sale of an existing home typically triggers home remodeling projects, either by the seller seeking to improve the likelihood of the sale or by the buyer looking to update to their aesthetic preferences

The next infographic in the series will focus on existing home sales.
